Greens call for Brisbane light rail service

Larissa Waters joined Bob Brown in Brisbane this week to launch the Greens' proposal for a light rail system in Brisbane.

The light rail proposal aims to upgrade suburban BUZ routes, the CityGlider, Free Loop bus and the Busway network to a fully integrated light rail network.

In addition, East-West connectivity would be improved by a route through the University of Queensland campus road network, and rapid transit would be brought to the North-Western suburbs.

The proposal has been developed in the context of a broader Greens push to improve Brisbane's public transport through a mix of light rail, heavy rail extension and extra bus routes.
